There were 33,212 new cases of the coronavirus reported in the state on Thursday, Dec 24, bringing the total number of people who have been infected to 2,040,528, according to California public health websites.

There also were 296 new deaths reported, bringing the total number of people who have died to 23,934.

Due to the Christmas holiday, there were no new patients reported in California’s hospitals.
