A hit-and-run crash in Fullerton left a man dead Wednesday, Sept. 16.

The victim was struck at about 5:40 a.m.,  while standing in the middle of the road on Orangethorpe Avenue, east of Auto Center Drive, police said. He died before he could be taken to a hospital, Fullerton Police Cpl. Billy Phu said.

The driver fled east on Orangethorpe, Phu said. Further descriptions of the vehicle or motorist involved were not available.

“Unfortunately, witnesses only heard the collision, and didn’t see it,” Phu said.

Investigators were working to determine the pedestrian’s identity Wednesday evening.
